The Devil Wears Prada

I had finished reading this book on last Monday. I never had the chance to watch the movie yet, but overall, I like the storyline! Good intro, contents and good ending as well!

The novel solely storied about Andrea’s working life, a fresh graduated student who got a job in one of world’s most famous fashionable magazine in Manhattan. She’s been offered to be a junior assistant to her super cruel boss, Miranda.

Once Andrea stepped in the office, her life changes badly. She got no time for her parents, her new born nephew, her BF and even her BFF, Lily. It’s all reserved for her devil boss.

She has to be patient with the boss, as she actually always dreamt to be a writer, which she knows her boss could help her to achieve it after servicing her goodly for one year.

After almost one year servicing the monster boss, her working life became worst when she have to replace her senior to accompany her boss to Paris. At the same time, she disappoints her BF while her BFF caught in a very bad car accident. After getting confuse on what to do, she suddenly realizes that she actually been too selfish to herself, to her family, her best friend and even to her BF. Without thinking too much, she left her boss in Paris after she berated her in the Parisian fashion show that both of them attending.

At the end of the story, she finally became a writer. But, not in the The New Yorker that she dreamt of. But, she still feels it was ok compared to be working with Miranda at the Runway. Though she doesn’t really get back to Alex, she still satisfied with the new life that she’s been through now. She was happier living together, spending more time together with her BFF and her family members, though she doesn’t have the chance to wear all those glamorous fashion designer’s things that she could freely get from the Runway’s Closet anymore.

I think if I were in Andrea’s position, for sure I’ll do the same thing as her did. Of course I need money. But, I’ll put my family first over the money because money didn’t promise me any assurance in achieving a happy life as my family will.

So, all in all I like all the characters in this novel, except Miranda! I hate her very much! Devil boss!

Cheap Bookshop

Last Saturday, after performing my Zuhur prayer, I’m thinking of whether to go to Atria or not, since hubby not around, my dearest friend Czah and Sue busy at their office and another dearest friend, Puan Do unreachable through her handphone (selalu macam tuh tau!). Hmmm…

At 3.30pm, I decided to proceed with my plan to visit the Payless Bookshop at Atria, hoping that I could find cheap cheap 2nd hand books there.

When I arrived at Atria, I wander around the shopping mall from ground floor until the 3rd floor. However, I couldn’t find the bookshop. I am asking around as well. But, seems like nobody ever seen that bookshop before. Erk! Am I wrong? No! I’m sure the bookshop exists here in Atria. But, it was 2 or 3 years back lah….. Hmmmm… maybe it’s already closed? Who knows? I don’t know….

Then, with frustration, I wander again at 1st floor. Heading to the escalator and planning to go home. Suddenly, my eye catches one new bookshop. It wasn’t a 2nd hand bookshop, but it’s a cheap bookshop (don’t remember the name).

I entered the shop and walk around. There are a lot of books inside this bookshop from cooking, novels, school books, health books etc. Seriously a lot! They don’t sell 2nd hand book. But, they sell new books (some looks like old books) with cheaper price.

I spent about 1 and half hours there and managed to grab 6 books. I don’t know how to pick the novels. So, I just picked them up based on their cover and some of it based on their author’s name.

So, here they are:

Don’t be surprised, I only spent RM79.90 to get all of them. We’ll see whether it’s worth to buy them when I finished reading them.

Shopaholic and Sister

I have finished the novel Shopaholic & Sister yesterday.

So, how was it?

From my point of view, I like the novel so much! I like Becky’s character in this novel. She’s kind, sensitive to other people’s feelings, good daughter, good wife, and good sister and good in almost every aspect. The only thing that I don’t like about her is her shopaholic illness. Seriously mad! She’s in debt in I don’t know how many credit cards. She even hides a few credit cards from her husband’s knowing just to fulfill her shopping madness. Crazy!

Other than that, I also like other character, like her husband, Luke, her best friend, Suze and her long lost sister, Jess. The writer put it in such way that made me like them! Their roles were very clear from the starts until the end of this novel.

I like her long lost sister’s way in managing her financial. She’s very good in saving in her money. Not like Becky. Jess was right when she said Becky was a spoilt daughter and wife. She never experience what Jess experienced. More over, she had a businessman hubby and quiet helpful parents. So, she doesn’t have to think about how to save her money.

However, I’m so touched with her effort to see her half sister in Cumbria. She tried every effort and experienced so much new things in her life just to persuade Jess to accept her as a long lost half sister.

I also like the ending of this novel. It makes me crying a bit… hehhehhe… a bit only ok! Everything went very well after the incident when she terribly falls in a mountain. Jess confessed her as a half sister, Suze came back to her as her very best friend and Luke forgave her for her wrongdoings and she finally managed to save her marriage which she thought was in tatters.

Worth reading it! So sweet of Becky!

I know… I’m a typical novel reader…. I like happy ending story… I think, I’m among those people who will burn the cinema if the ending of the story wasn’t went well as per my expectation, happy ending…. Hahahhaha… Like the Bollywooders…. hahahhahhaha…. 😀

p/s: I think, I should read other series of this shopaholic novel. Anybody volunteer to lend it to me?

Kelab Buku

Jadi beliau telah memilih novel Remember me? Sekali sampai, novel tu on sale pulak. Beli 3 novel pada harga 2 novel. Hah? 😯 Apa lagi… Mulalah perasaan tamak menguasai diri. 😈 Terus telefon Puan Mastur tanya judul2 novel yang best2. Terus rembat lagi 2… Ahahahhahaha……

Yang wajib novel tengah2 tu jak. Yang pengapit tu tambahan akibat ketamakan yang melanda....

Yang wajib novel tengah2 tu jak. Yang pengapit tu tambahan akibat ketamakan yang melanda....

Bukan setakat tu jak, sia hampir2 beli sampai 6 novel. Sebab tamak punya pasal la ni. Pantang tengok barang on sale, mulalah mata naik kelabu… Adui lahhhh….. Nasib baik berjaya mengawal diri dan beli 3 jak… Fuh! 😕 Memang kalau dasar mata kelabu, mata kelabu jugak. 😛 Ingatkan mata kelabu untuk barang2 fav jak, rupa2nya buku pun jadik jugak… 🙄 Amisah…. Amisah….
